The pull or draw hoe is used to chop at weeds, copes well with hard ground and can be used for earthing up vegetables and making shallow sowing trenches.Weeds certainly stand no chance, as the blade is slanted back at exactly the right angle to behead them, while the razor-sharp edgeensures the job is done instantly. Used on hard, dry soil it virtuallyshaved the surface clean of weeds. The smaller head and its angle madeit slightly less effective for earthing-up but it produced a nice drill. Its weed killing efficiency makes up for any other deficiencies. The sturdy shaft is of generous length and a hand-forged head gives it a traditional look and feel. I half felt I should be wearing a mock and gaiters while usin this piece of bygone craftsmanship!
